The Bible: “a manual of bad habits, a catalog of cruelty and the worst of human nature,”
Said the Portuguese writer and winner of the Nobel Prize, Jose Saramago.
According to Saramago,
“Yes, the reader understood correctly. The Father ordered Abraham to sacrifice his own son, as if he was simply ordering a cup of water to quench his thirst. This shows his manners, very ingrained. The logical, natural and simply human response would be for Abraham to send the Father to shit!”
And what was the occasion that caused such response from Saramago?:
Saramago’s harsh words against the “biggest problem of humanity (religion)” aren’t new or surprising. He is known—in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula—for his harsh words against religion.
I know I’ll buy his new book (yes, even though I’m a Catholic)
